Virtual Continental Congress Watch Party

Several members of Little Rock-Centennial Chapter had a fantastic time watching the Historic Opening Night Virtual 129th DAR Continental Congress online, as well as the Saturday evening presentation. Part of the program Saturday night including one of our own and chapter registrar, accepting the National 2020 DAR Service for Veterans Outstanding DAR Service Award.  It was such an honor to have Arkansas State Regent Junelle Mongno attend both of these events with us.

It was wonderful to see the amazing award winning speakers on opening night: DAR Media and Entertainment Award Winner Henry Louis Gates, Jr., who has the PBS program “Finding Your Roots” (he is also a member of SAR, Sons of The American Revolution), DAR History Award Medal Winner Lonnie G. Bunch, NSDAR Excellence in American History Book Award winner, and Pulitzer Prize winning author Rick Atkinson.  It was wonderful to hear the NSDAR President General speak and introduce everyone. We are looking forward to more events during this historic 129th Virtual Continental Congress as we Rise and Shine for America in Today’s DAR!

Chapter Mask Drive

Little Rock-Centennial Chapter members were thrilled to visit the Voluntary Services Office at Towbin Healthcare Center VA in North Little Rock, Arkansas to donate eighty face masks made by our chapter members. Our chapter also donated one sewing machine to the Sew With Veterans program at the VA. Veterans use the sewing machines to make face masks.

It was an honor to be with Arkansas State Regent Junelle Mongno as she donated a sewing machine from ASDAR. Thank you to our Chapter members for their commitment and dedication in Today’s DAR!

Chapter Food Drive

The Little Rock-Centennial Chapter recently held a chapter food drive for the Arkansas Food Bank in Little Rock, Arkansas. The chapter collected 246 pounds of food items and they were delivered this week. We collected items that were the most needed during the Covid-19 crisis.  Thank you to all our chapter members for donating to this very worthy cause in our community as we Rise and Shine for America in Today’s DAR!

We Have a National Award Winner!

We have a WINNER!  The Little Rock-Centennial Chapter DAR is so proud of our member and registrar! We received notification from ASDAR State Regent, Junelle Mongno, that she is the national winner of the DAR Service for Veterans/Outstanding DAR Volunteer Award. She received this award in the State of Arkansas and was also the award winner in the DAR South Central Division. The Little Rock-Centennial Chapter nominated her, and we are so proud of her commitment and dedication in all the amazing work she does. She is the coordinator for the Veterans History Project that is recorded in the Library of Congress, she leads us in the Veterans Shoe Box Drive every year, she is the State of Arkansas Co-Chair Service for Veterans, and the ASDAR VAVS Representative. Last year she was Female Volunteer of the year at the VA.

We are so proud of you and everything you do not only for our chapter, ASDAR, and NSDAR, but also for our veterans!  Thank you!

Meet Our New Chapter Officers for 2020-2022

Due to the current pandemic, our March and April meetings were cancelled along with our May luncheon.  Normally, our new chapter officers would be installed and introduced at our May luncheon so we wanted to make sure to recognize them here.  Before listing the new officers, we want to say a huge thank you to our 2018-2020 officers!  We are so proud of everything our chapter has accomplished under each of your leadership.

Here are the Little Rock-Centennial Chapter 2020-2022 officers.  Congratulations, and we look forward to an amazing next two years!
