A few members of Little Rock-Centennial Chapter ASDAR, served cookies, coffee and handed out Valentine cards to veterans at Towbin Healthcare Center at Ft. Roots in NLR, AR., as part of National Salute to Veteran Patients Week. The Valentine cards were hand written by local elementary school students. National Salute to Veteran Patients week takes place all across the United States. Thank you to Central Arkansas Veteran Healthcare System, Voluntary Services Office Chief Micheal Dobbs for inviting us to attend.

Some of our members also enjoyed a wonderful evening hosting Bingo, serving snacks and visiting with veterans at Towbin Healthcare Center at Ft. Roots. The husband of one of our Chapter members also attended. We always look forward to this evening.
Thank you to all the wonderful organizations and individuals that participated in the 2019 Veterans Shoe Box Drive. Eighteen hundred boxes were collected in total. In December, the boxes were distributed to Veterans at VA Hospitals in Little Rock, North Little Rock and Hot Springs.
The Veteran Shoe Box Drive is organized by the Little Rock-Centennial Chapter DAR and is sanctioned by the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System Voluntary Services office. Chief of Voluntary Services, Mr. Micheal Dobbs, and staff coordinated the delivery of boxes to veterans. We were thrilled to have NSDAR Arkansas State Regent Junelle Mongno join us for the delivery. We were able to hand deliver some boxes to veterans at the VA and many were left for veteran patients on each floor of the VA hospitals. Little Rock-Centennial Chapter DAR prepared 145 shoe boxes for women veterans.
Thank you to Publishing Concepts Inc. in Little Rock for storing the boxes and publishing the shoe box flyer in the Life in Chenal Magazine. It was truly an honor to deliver boxes to veteran patients and thank them for their service. Thank a Veteran today and everyday.
Little Rock-Centennial Chapter, NSDAR had an Anniversary Tea at the Old State House Museum in Little Rock on Sunday November 17, 2019 to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the Little Rock Chapter and the 100th Anniversary of the Centennial Chapter.
The two chapters merged in 2000 to become the Little Rock-Centennial Chapter. As part of the celebration some Chapter members were reenactors dressed in period clothing depicting some of the early leaders of the chapters. Original chapter documents were also displayed on loan from the Arkansas State Archives.
We were thrilled to have other DAR chapters from Arkansas attend this event and share in the celebration with us, including State Regent Junelle Mongno and State Vice Regent Gretchen Magee.
The legacy of the two chapters lives on today supporting NSDAR through patriotism, education and historic preservation. The DAR Room in the Old State House Museum is a focal point in this historic building.
Please enjoy the pictures from the event contained in the slideshow below.
The Little Rock Centennial Chapter had the honor and privilege to attend the 2019 Vietnam War Commemoration Ceremony at the Eugene Towbin Healthcare Center at Ft. Roots VA in North Little Rock. Members enjoyed greeting everyone, visiting with the veterans, and serving food and drinks after the ceremony.
Many members of our chapter also attended and participated in the Arkansas State Conference March 21-23, 2019 in Little Rock.
A few members attended the luncheon on Friday, March 22 where two of our members, Stephanie Haught Wade and Taylor Newkirk, were recognized for completing the New Members Course.
Some of our members also attended the formal dinner Friday evening. We had a wonderful time visiting with our DAR sisters from all over Arkansas, and can’t wait until next year’s state conference.
