We had a great meeting this month at Ferncliff in Little Rock. The program was about the Ferncliff Nature School with guest speakers Rachel Parker, Director and Lead Teacher, and Jenny Higgins, Lead Teacher.
Their mission is to provide quality child centered education while strengthening the child’s connection with the natural world through daily immersion and discovery in nature. The program provides a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate early childhood curriculum with an emphasis on a child’s connection with nature. The program follows the forest kindergarten model and is “child lead” with teachers acting as facilitators for learning. They spend 75% of day immersed in the natural environment that surrounds the school, rain or shine.
